Serbia registers 18.8 bln dinar budget surplus in January-September

BELGRADE - Between January and September this year, Serbia saw an 18.8 bln dinar budget surplus, which is 104.5 bln dinars better than a planned 85.7 bln deficit.
Revenues in the period totalled 1,583.6 bln dinars, with expenditures at 1,564.8 bln dinars.
According to figures released by the Ministry of Finance, a 3.6 bln dinar surplus was registered in September alone.
In September 2024, revenues totalled 163.9 bln dinars, with tax revenues amounting to 134.8 bln dinars and mostly comprised of VAT (71.6 bln), excise duties (26.9 bln) and corporate tax (19.2 bln).
Non-tax revenues amounted to 28.5 bln dinars and donations stood at 0.5 bln dinars.
Total expenditures amounted to 160.3 bln dinars, with
expenditures for employees at 38.8 bln dinars, transfers to the pension and disability insurance fund, the national health insurance fund, the military social insurance fund and the national employment service totalled 27.6 bln dinars, with capital expenditures at 30 bln, subsidies at 11.1 bln dinars, interest payments at 11 bln dinars, social protection expenditures at 15.3 bln dinars and expenditures for goods and services at 10.6 bln dinars.
At general government level, a 29.1 bln dinar fiscal surplus and a 154.3 bln dinar primary fiscal surplus were registered in the first nine months of 2024, the ministry said.
