MT KOPAONIK - Indermit Gill, chief economist of the World Bank Group and senior vice president for development economics, said on Monday 2023 could be the third-worst non-recession year since 1990 but that Serbia had done very well to maintain macroeconomic stability.
Addressing the Kopaonik Business Forum in a special guest capacity, Gill said 2024 would not be a much better year globally but that Serbia could do a lot to prepare for all challenges.
"Serbia has done very well to maintain macroeconomic stability, but what it needs most now is economic growth, and this will only happen if there is a massive increase in private investment and, for that, it has to be more ready for business than it has ever been," Gill said.
