BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Friday that, after the completion of a gas pipeline to Bulgaria in October, Serbia would focus on building a gas pipeline to North Macedonia as well in order to connect with Greece and LNG terminals there.
"There is also a possibility of building joint gas-fired power plants. We will be doing that in phases to ensure greater energy stability and independence to Serbia, as well as to the entire region," Brnabic said at a press conference with North Macedonian counterpart Dimitar Kovacevski.
Kovacevski said his country was using natural gas to generate electricity and that it had purchased gas from a different supplier due to volatile market prices.
"That electricity has been sold in the open market in North Macedonia, and one part of it was exported to Albania and another even to Serbia when Serbia was experiencing shortages in peak periods," he said.
