IRIG - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday the entire Fruska Gora corridor, spanning 47.7 km, would be completed in two and a half years.

Vucic said this during a visit to the construction site of the Iriski venac tunnel near Irig, northern Serbia.

"I think there have never been so many bridges under construction in Novi Sad," he remarked.

He said works to design a widening of the Belgrade-Novi Sad motorway would have to be launched next year even though the railways would take over an increasing share of passenger transport.

Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic said the project was ahead of schedule.

Vesic added that, once all planned motorways and expressways were completed, a journey from Zrenjanin, northeastern Serbia, to Loznica, western Serbia, would take only 88 minutes.

Vucic noted that this was the first time the northern Vojvodina province was getting the most kilometres of new motorways and expressways in Serbia.
