BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic announced at the weekend Serbia would invest around 70 mln euros in artificial intelligence (AI) by 2027.
"We must add to that all that is brought by private capital and that has already started coming to Serbia. We will have a supercomputer. In addition, we will invest 30 mln euros to finish that by the end of 2025," Brnabic said on Saturday evening at the presentation of the Leap Into The Future - Serbia EXPO 2027 investment programme for 2024-2027.
She noted that even the UAE - one of the world's richest and most advanced countries - had only two supercomputers.
Serbia's supercomputer will be freely available for use to young people who will provide solutions for application of AI in areas such as the public administration, transport, energy and health care, she noted.
She announced a 150-200 mln euro investment in additional scientific, research and innovation infrastructure and added that the buildings of science and technology parks in Nis, Cacak, Belgrade and Novi Sad would be expanded by 2027.
"That includes an entire innovation district in Kragujevac that will be home to a science and technology park besides the state data centre. In addition, we will also finally complete the excellence centres in Kragujevac," Brnabic said.
