BELGRADE - At a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Serbian PM Ana Brnabic opened a new Belgrade office of global video game developers Wargaming on Friday.
The 5,500 sq m Airport City office will hire 200 people.
"Companies such as Wargaming are helping big dreams come true in Serbia - the dream of our country and its economy being based on modern technologies, innovation and creativity," Brnabic said.
Speaking to Tanjug before the opening ceremony, Wargaming General Manager Nikola Stojanovic said the company currently had an 800-strong workforce in Serbia and that its Belgrade studio was the second-largest of the 15 it had worldwide.
He said that, in view of the company's plans for the future, the Belgrade studio would definitely become its largest in a few months' time.
Wargaming's main video game titles are World of Tanks and World of Warships, as well as World of Tanks Blitz, developed for mobile platforms.
Head of the World of Warships franchise Sergey Vorobyev said the expertise of Serbian developers was one of the reasons why the company had decided to open a new office in Belgrade.
Even though they might be more experienced in IT sectors outside the gaming industry, Serbian developers are of very high quality and they learn and adapt quickly, Vorobyev said.
