TOKYO - Serbian Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic met with Japanese Minister of State for Economic Security Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo on Thursday, expressing the hope they would work together on boosting bilateral economic ties to open up mutually beneficial opportunities for citizens and companies.

The meeting was also attended by Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Tomislav Momirovic, Minister of Science and Technological Development Jelena Begovic and Serbian Ambassador to Japan Aleksandra Kovac, who are members of a Serbian state and business delegation visiting Japan.

"We agreed that there are also opportunities for cooperation in technology transfers and innovation. Japanese technological expertise is extremely highly valued, so I believe our country could profit greatly from exchanging knowledge with Japan," a statement released by Mesarovic's ministry quoted her as saying.

She added that Serbia offered a wide range of business opportunities and a favourable environment that could be attractive to Japanese investors.

She noted that she believed Serbia had space for development of mutually beneficial business ties thanks to its stable economy, favourable legislative framework and a strategic geographic position.

"I highlighted several sectors that are especially promising for investors, such as energy, infrastructure, technology, the automotive industry and tourism. I believe investments in Serbia by Japanese companies would contribute to economic development and job creation in our country," Mesarovic explained.
