Serbia registers 29.5 bln dinar budget deficit in January-April

BELGRADE - Between January and April this year, Serbia registered a 29.5 bln dinar budget deficit, which is 41.4 bln dinars better than a planned 70.9 bln deficit.

Revenues totalled 668.8 bln dinars while expenditures stood at 698.3 bln dinars.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Finance, a 9.8 bln dinar deficit was registered in April alone.

April revenues totalled 185.3 bln dinars, while expenditures amounted to 195.1 bln dinars.

Tax revenues amounted to 164.9 bln dinars and were mostly comprised of VAT (92.2 bln) and excise duties (31.8 bln).

Non-tax revenues amounted to 19.8 bln dinars and donations stood at 0.5 bln dinars.

Expenditures for employees totalled 39.7 bln dinars, transfers to the pension and disability insurance fund, the national health insurance fund, the military social insurance fund and the national employment service totalled 27.2 bln dinars, with capital expenditures at 36.8 bln and subsidies disbursed at 30.1 bln dinars.

At general government level, a 24.1 bln dinar fiscal deficit and a 49.8 bln dinar primary fiscal surplus were registered in the first four months of 2024, the ministry said.
