VRANJE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic welcomed North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova at the Prohor Pcinjski monastery near Vranje, southern Serbia, noting that her visit was an excellent opportunity to strengthen a partnership and affirm the values shared by Serbia and North Macedonia with a view to progress and development across the region.
"The monastery of St Prohor Pcinjski is the best place for this encounter because it symbolises the connection between Serbia and North Macedonia, rooted in joint tradition, culture and the challenging historical circumstances that shaped the identities of our peoples. Ilindan - or Ilinden - (St Elijah's Day) is another connecting point that further ties between our two countries should be based on," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.
After a tour of the monastery, the two presidents held a meeting, to be followed by a joint press conference.
