BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic spoke with Cuban Ambassador to Belgrade Leyde Ernesto Rodriguez Hernandez on Tuesday about advancement of overall cooperation between the two countries, based on traditional friendship and close ties.
Vucevic noted that he exceptionally appreciated Cuba's support for Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty as well as its position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, the Serbian government said in a statement.
The PM voiced concerns over the situation in the autonomous province of Kosovo-Metohija and the terror the Serb population there faced due to Pristina PM Albin Kurti's efforts to ethnically cleanse the province.
He noted that Pristina must be put under international pressure to continue the dialogue with Belgrade and stop terrorising the Serbs.
Vucevic especially thanked Cuba for not supporting a UN General Assembly resolution on Srebrenica, which he said had not helped stabilise the situation in the region or improve the relations between Serbs and Bosniaks.
The Cuban ambassador said his country was providing principled support for the sovereignty and integrity of Serbia and noted that a solution to the Kosovo-Metohija issue could be found only through dialogue.
He said bilateral relations with Serbia, established more than 120 years ago, were traditionally good and friendly and expressed readiness for further strengthening of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
