NEW YORK - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he had had a friendly and open discussion with Democratic Republic of the Congo President Felix Tshisekedi in New York about current global developments and the need to preserve multilateralism in the world.
"I expressed gratitude to the traditionally friendly Republic of the Congo for the principled support for Serbia's territorial integrity and our positions in the international arena, aimed at protecting our people, international law and justice," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.
He noted Serbia was truly committed to continuing to strengthen its cooperation and solidarity with African states, with which, besides a vision of freedom and independence, it also shared an interest in getting the enormous potential for economic cooperation to materialise.
Vucic added that he had also taken the opportunity to invite the DR Congo president to visit Serbia again to continue the work on strengthening the relations between the two countries and the two nations.
The two presidents met during the 79th UN General Assembly session.
