BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Polish PM Donald Tusk in Belgrade on Thursday to discuss strengthening of bilateral ties, Serbia's EU path, the situation in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija and the current situation in the region and the world.

"An excellent and substantial meeting with Donald Tusk, at which we confirmed a commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and to deepening the cooperation on key issues of mutual importance and interest," Vucic wrote in an Instagram post.

He noted that the situation in Kosovo-Metohija had been one of the key topics and that he had raised great concerns over the nearly impossible living conditions for Serbs in the province and reiterated a consistent commitment to peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue.

Vucic added that the discussion had also addressed Serbia's EU path and European integration in the Western Balkans, as well as a need for clearer signals from Brussels regarding EU enlargement.

"I highlighted the significance our country attaches to  cooperation with Poland, not only due to the support for our EU path, but also when it comes to strengthening the economic ties and the potential for investing in strategic projects," Vucic wrote in the post.

He added that he and Tusk had also discussed the current situation in the region and the world as well as common challenges, such as security and economic ones.

Vucic noted that he had stressed the significance of stepping up diplomatic efforts to find lasting solutions to growing difficulties faced by all.

"At the same time, this meeting represents an important step towards deepening the friendly relations between Serbia and Poland and towards strengthening the European future of our country, for which I especially thanked our guest," Vucic wrote in the post.
