BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's phone call with US President-elect Donald Trump just days after Trump's election win says enough about Trump's priorities and Serbia's place in the list of those priorities, says Vladimir Marinkovic, founder of the Congress of Serbian-American Friendship.
In a statement to Tanjug, Marinkovic said that, although the Biden administration, too, had maintained a balanced attitude to Serbia, Vucic's good relationship with people around Trump would contribute to even better Serbia-US relations.
He said Trump's return to power could be expected to result in strong political and economic cooperation between the two countries, implementation of strategic partnership projects, the launch of strategic dialogue, as well as the most important thing for Serbia - a process aimed at resolving key political issues in the region and ensuring stability.
"By that I am referring to Kosovo-Metohija, Republika Srpska and safeguarding of our national interests and also, as a matter of priority, to protection of, and ensuring peace and normal life to, our people in Kosovo-Metohija, who have in the past years been targeted by apartheid by the provisional (Pristina) institutions headed by Albin Kurti, without any strong reactions by either the US administration or the EU administration," Marinkovic noted.
