PRISTINA - Prosecutors in Pristina have indicted a Serb man identified with the initials D D for allegedly committing the criminal offences of attacking an officer on duty and "involvement in a crowd that committed acts of crime and hooliganism" during a protest outside the municipal building in Zvecan, northern Kosovo-Metohija, on May 29, 2023.

In collaboration and coordination with other accused of Serb ethnicity, D D attacked and seriously threatened KFOR troops and officers of the so-called Kosovo Police in the vicinity of the building, inflicting physical injuries to them and causing material damage, the indictment said.

The prosecutor requested that the accused be found guilty and remain in custody until the end of proceedings, an official statement said.

The protests in the north of Kosovo-Metohija erupted after ethnic Albanian mayors elected in polls boycotted by Serbs were forcibly installed in office by Pristina on May 25 last year with assistance from the so-called Kosovo Police.
