BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received Web Summit founder, executive director and co-owner Patrick Cosgrave on Friday to discuss the possibility of Serbia hosting a Web Summit conference in Belgrade.
In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote that he had had a very important meeting with Cosgrave and that it had been an excellent opportunity to exchange views on possibilities to boost the Serbian tech sector, which he noted would help the country's growth and development.
"We discussed the possibility of Belgrade and Serbia hosting Web Summit, the world's largest tech conference. On the occasion, I highlighted the success we achieved at the last Summit, attended by 60 Serbian innovative companies," Vucic added.
Serbia and Belgrade can offer many things and ensure the best organisation of an event connecting global politics, technology and innovation, he noted.
By hosting the conference, Serbia would position itself in the global tech environment as a key player on the IT scene while opening its door to new foreign investments, partnerships and growth of tourism and boosting the reputation and the brand of its capital city, he added.
"This is a rare opportunity to together secure a future for Serbia on the global scene," Vucic also wrote in the post.
