BRUSSELS - Outgoing EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak met with his newly-appointed successor Peter Sorensen on Tuesday, and said handover briefings were "in full swing to ensure a seamless transition."
"Glad to meet with my newly-appointed successor as the EU Special Representative for the Dialogue Peter Sorensen today. Our handover briefings are in full swing to ensure a seamless transition," Lajcak wrote in a post on X.
The Council of the EU appointed Sorensen, a Danish diplomat, as the EU's special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue on Monday.
"Mr Sorensen will take up his duties on February 1, 2025, with an initial mandate of 13 months," it said in a statement.
Sorensen was put forward for the post by EU foreign policy and security chief Kaja Kallas.
Lajcak's term expires on January 31.
