CHISINAU - Moldovan President Maia Sandu said on Wednesday she had had a productive telephone conversation with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic about security aspects in Moldova and that Chisinau would continue to cooperate closely with Belgrade to prevent threats to Moldova's security.
"Had a productive phone call with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on security aspects in Moldova. We’ll continue to closely cooperate with Serbia to prevent threats to Moldova’s security," Sandu wrote in a Twitter post.
Sandu also congratulated Serbia on its Statehood Day.
Earlier, the press office of the Serbian president said in a statement Vucic and Sandu had expressed mutual support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of their countries, as well as interest in development of Serbia-Moldova bilateral ties to mutual benefit.
They agreed the Serbs and Moldovans were friendly nations.
In light of recent statements, they said potential open issues would be resolved by agreement, the statement said.
