SARAJEVO - Serbia's caretaker PM Milos Vucevic said on Friday in Sarajevo Serbia would continue to help the Serbian Orthodox Church and Serbs wherever they may live and that it would also help further development of East Sarajevo.

"Just like Serbia, together with the Government of Republika Srpska, continues to renovate the Orthodox Cathedral in Mostar, we will also continue to help the Metropolitanate of Dabar-Bosnia and help and preserve the not large but significant Serb community in Sarajevo, while helping further development of East Sarajevo as a hub for Serbs in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska," Vucevic said after meeting with Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia.

Thanking the metropolitan and the clergy for the hospitality, Vucevic noted that his visit to the Metropolitanate and the Orthodox Cathedral in Sarajevo both confirmed and proved the Serb community was an inseparable part of the city and its development.

"I hope that, in spite of the greatest problem - the lack of people and the result of all that was happening, above all, in the 1990s - the Metropolitanate will remain and survive in Sarajevo. The Church must remain in the historical seats of its patriarchates, its metropolitanates and eparchies and continue to preserve life," Vucevic said.
