BELGRADE - Serbia's caretaker Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Thursday the US company Genasys, from which the Interior Ministry purchased equipment in 2021, had provided key evidence refuting "all lies and manipulations" about alleged use of a "sound cannon" at a March 15 protest in Belgrade.
Dacic noted that Genasys had decidedly stated that video and audio footage it had seen and heard did not support the use of long-range audio devices (LRAD) or a "sound cannon" at the protest.
Such a statement by a manufacturer, as well as demonstrations of acoustic warning devices, do not suit "the creators and spreaders of lies" and, for that reason, no opposition media outlet has published this information as it destroys their concept of "the bigger the lie, the more credible it is," Dacic said.
"This is the end of all deceptions and lies. A so-called sound cannon was not used on March 15 and has never been used at any other time by Serbian police, as opposed to many other states that are also sponsors of the protests in Serbia," Dacic said.
"The video and audio evidence we have seen and heard thus far does not support the use of an LRAD during the March 15th incident in Belgrade, Serbia," Genasys said in a post on X.
