BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met on Wednesday with Spanish FM Jose Manuel Albares Bueno, who is on his first official visit to Serbia.

In an open and sincere conversation, the parties agreed that bilateral political relations were excellent and based on solid foundations, and that they represented strong support for further strengthening of cooperation in other areas, with special emphasis on the economy and trade, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Brnabic thanked Spain for its principled position of respect of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.

At the same time, she informed the Spanish FM of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, drawing to his attention the provocations on the ground, attacks and harassment of the Serb population, desecration of cultural heritage, as well as Pristina's failure to meet its commitments from the Brussels Agreement.

Speaking about European integration, Brnabic thanked Spain for supporting Serbia.

In light of Spain's Council of the EU presidency in the second half of 2023, Brnabic especially noted the significance of Wednesday's signing of a MoU on advancement of bilateral cooperation in European integration.

Albares Bueno noted that the two countries maintained a strong friendship and that their political relations were excellent, and that the enlargement policy would be given an important role during Spain's EU presidency, the statement adds.
