BELGRADE - At a meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix and UNMIK head Caroline Ziadeh, Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic said Serbia was committed to dialogue on Kosovo-Metohija as the only way to resolve current problems.
However, Dacic noted that respect of reached agreements was essential and, in that context, he added that implementation of undertaken commitments - above all, establishment of a Community of Serb Municipalities - was necessary although the Brussels Agreement was signed ten years ago, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The meeting also addressed Serbia's contribution to world peace through its participation in peace operations and advancement of cooperation with the UN.
The parties discussed the significance of continued UNMIK engagement on all issues of significance for consistent implementation of UN SC Resolution 1244, as well as the current security and political situation in Kosovo-Metohija, especially in the context of the most recent incidents that are escalating tensions further, the statement also said.
Lacroix commended the participation of Serbian representatives in missions under the UN mandate and, above all, the quality and professionalism of their engagement.
Dacic confirmed Serbia's readiness to remain a significant participant of UN peace operations, contributing to building peace and security worldwide.
The parties said they expected the good cooperation to be continued in the future, the statement added.
