BELGRADE - Serbia-Slovenia relations are very good but can still be much better, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after a meeting with Slovenian counterpart Natasa Pirc Musar in Belgrade on Thursday.

Vucic said he was greatly honoured to have had the opportunity to welcome Pirc Musar.

He noted that bilateral economic relations were extremely good and that the volume of bilateral trade was expected to be close to 2 bln euros this year.

That makes Slovenia one of Serbia's most significant partners, Vucic said at a joint press conference with Pirc Musar.

"I would like to thank Slovenian companies for making major investments, Slovenia being one of the biggest investors in Serbia. I believe a growing number of Serbian businesspeople want to invest in Slovenia, too," Vucic said.

He said the meeting with Pirc Musar had addressed a bilateral agenda related to the Yugoslav succession and cultural heritage, and added that he believed progress could be achieved in those areas, too.

"Our discussions about Serbia's EU path and the state of affairs in the Western Balkans were crucial. I informed her of Serbia's views on all developments in the region and of Serbia's desire for peace and stability and free movement of people, goods, services and capital to be preserved," Vucic noted.

He said they had also discussed the complexity of the situation with Pristina and the necessity of de-escalation.
