BELGRADE - The We, A Voice From The People movement reiterated on Tuesday it was against forming a coalition in the Belgrade city assembly with the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS)-Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) coalition or with a potential coalition formed by Serbia Against Violence and the HOPE coalition.
The movement said this in a post on its account on the social media network X (formerly known as Twitter), following a public call by SNS deputy leader and mayoral candidate Aleksandar Sapic to discussions about potential cooperation and plans for development of Belgrade in the next four years.
"On this occasion, We, A Voice From The People reiterate our position that we do not support a coalition neither with the SNS-SPS coalition nor with a potential Serbia Against Violence-HOPE coalition. We are interested in assuming full responsibility in governance with no compromise with the past method of governance of all post-October 5 (2000) authorities, which, with the six seats we have, is neither realistic nor fair to expect," it said.
In case there is no majority in the new city assembly and if new elections are called, We, A Voice From The People, which has also made it into the national parliament, will have a better opportunity to present its plan and programme for governing Belgrade, giving voters a clearer choice compared to the previous elections, the movement said in the post.
