KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - In a letter to ambassadors of Quint states to Pristina, Srpska lista - a political organisation of Kosovo-Metohija Serbs - conveyed on Wednesday the pleas and expectations of the Serb population in the province that Pristina PM Albin Kurti's terror and an exodus of Serbs from their ancestral homes be stopped.

In particular, the letter focused on the catastrophic consequences of Pristina's ban on the Serbian dinar and detailed examples of repression against Serbs living both south and north of the Ibar River.

"We are writing to you on behalf of Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija, conveying the people's pleas and expectations that you use your enormous personal authority, as well as the authority of the respected states you are representing in this territory, to urgently stop an exodus of our people from their ancestral homes," reads the letter, seen by Tanjug.

Srpska lista pointed out that violence against Serbs in the province, underway for over two decades now, had intensified since Kurti had come to power in 2021 with the aim of "expelling and destroying everything that is Serbian in this territory," and noted that "there is no human right Albin Kurti's regime has not violated when it comes to the Serbs."

"The latest in a series of drastic anti-Serb measures is a decision to abolish the dinar and payment transactions, which is causing a financial collapse of Serbs in this territory. Through that decision, the Serbs have been put in the most difficult position they have been in since the 1999 conflict and practically forced to move out of the territory at an accelerated rate," the letter notes.
