BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Thursday she had proposed concrete topics at a meeting with whips of political groups in the parliament but that the opposition had rejected them, showing no willingness to discuss them.
The meeting was called to discuss ODIHR recommendations.
"That was an attempt of dialogue, I know that that is not what dialogue looks like, but that will not stop me from trying. I will keep trying and appealing that we act like serious and responsible people and show that to all Serbian citizens because it is solely thanks to them that we are in this assembly as their deputies," Brnabic told a press conference in the parliament building, where the meeting took place.
Brnabic said she had presented to opposition whips amendments to the law on election of MPs, the law on local elections, the law on financing of political parties, the law on preventing corruption and the law on the Constitutional Court, and added that amending the laws would automatically meet seven ODIHR recommendations.
"I want to implement all ODIHR recommendations," Brnabic said.
She also said there would be no talks on the date of the upcoming elections for the Belgrade city assembly and that they would be held on June 2, as planned.
