BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has received a letter of gratitude from Chinese President Xi Jinping for the warm and friendly welcome during his recent visit to Serbia.

The letter notes that Serbia and China had declared the building of a community with a shared future in a new era, taking bilateral relations to new historic heights, which Xi said would "inject a new, strong incentive to the eternal friendship, mutual support and close cooperation between China and Serbia."

"Under our joint leadership, the comprehensive Sino-Serbian strategic partnership is progressing to a new level in a versatile manner. Our two countries are mutually supporting vital interests and significant concerns, registering mutual political trust, solid advancement of practical cooperation, as well as an iron-clad friendship that is growing firmer over time, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of the two countries and lending a strong impetus to own modernisation and national rejuvenation," a statement from Vucic's presidential office quoted Xi as noting in the letter.

Xi added that, during the visit, he had had a deep exchange with Vucic about bilateral relations and international and regional affairs of mutual interest and that they had reached a series of important consensuses.

Xi noted that Vucic had demonstrated firm commitment to Serbia's independence and self-empowerment as well as farsightedness in his consistent advocacy of development of friendly Sino-Serbian relations.

"I highly appreciate that and I stand ready to continue to maintain strategic communication and regular contact with you," Xi wrote in the letter to Vucic.
