BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said on Thursday the proposers and the co-sponsors of a UN General Assembly resolution on Srebrenica were working on an analysis to find out why, in a first for UN genocide resolutions, it had been supported by only 84 UN member states.

Speaking to K1 TV, Djuric said Serbia had fought two diplomatic battles in the past few weeks - to thwart Pristina's Council of Europe membership and to keep the Serbs from being stigmatised in the UNGA as genocidal.

The fact 107 UN member states backed Serbia's position by not voting for the resolution is a success for Serbia that will go down in the history of its diplomacy, he said.

Serbia is analysing the vote of every country and its approaches to all countries in order to prepare for everything that is ahead of it, Djuric said.

"What we have achieved will serve as a deterrent to all who will attempt to go against Serbia in international organisations, but it will also open up possibilities for us to profile ourselves economically as a country that has excellent access to Africa - the fastest-developing of all continents - Latin America and Asia," Djuric said.
