Covic: We need Pesic to win our first gold as Serbia

BELGRADE - New Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS) President Nebojsa Covic said on Wednesday picking head coaches for the men's and women's senior national basketball teams was a priority and that Svetislav Pesic - whose contract with the KSS has expired - had an "open invitation" to coach the men's team.

"There is nothing spectacular or any speculation there - Pesic is a logical solution for the sake of continuity. The players think the same, we just need to see if he, too, thinks the same. It would be good if he carried on," Covic said at a press conference.

"There is a desire that we win our first gold medal as Serbia - we have four silver medals and one bronze medal. The European championship is interesting to us and we need Pesic for that. If he does not stay, that will make us look incompetent, but we will maintain contact with him even if he does not," Covic said.
