DENVER - Serbian basketball player Nikola Jokic has been named the Most Valuable Player of this season's NBA finals.

Jokic led the Denver Nuggets to a 4-1 victory over Miami Heat in the final series, averaging 30.8 points, 13.5 rebounds and eight assist per game.

In last night's Game 5, Jokic scored 28 points and added 16 rebounds and four assists as the Nuggets won 94-89 to claim their first-ever championship title.

Previously, he was also named MVP of the Western Conference.

He is the fifth Serbian to win the NBA championship ring, but the first with the MVP title and a key team role.

The previous winners are Darko Milicic (Detroit Pistons, 2004), Predrag Stojakovic (Dallas Mavericks, 2011), Ognjen Kuzmic (Golden State Warriors, 2015) and Nemanja Bjelica (Golden State Warriors, 2022).
