BRUSSELS - Romania, which chairs the Council of the EU, intends to host by the end of June an intergovernmental conference that would see Serbia open at least one new chapter in its EU accession talks, a Brussels source told Tanjug Wednesday.

"When it comes to Serbia, the goal is to hold an intergovernmental conference at the end of the month. Work on consultations with member states is still underway but the plan is to organise one intergovernmental conference with Serbia, and one with Montenegro, in the last week of June," a source in the Council said.

The conference could be held in Brussels on June 27 or 28, Tanjug learns.

Serbia has four negotiating chapters ready to be opened, including Chapter 9 on financial services, which is expected to be OKed by all EU member states in case Serbia is taken off the FATF grey list next week.
