BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday a future VGP industrial park in Dobanovci, suburban Belgrade, would boost Serbia's overall logistics and industrial capacities as well as its competitiveness in the region and help it attract more investors.
Vucic was speaking at a ceremony that marked the start of works to build the 1 million-plus sq m VGP Park Belgrade.
VGP is a pan-European company that owns, operates and builds real estate properties in the logistics and semi-industrial manufacturing sectors.
Vucic said he expected Serbia's FDI inflow to exceed 4 bln euros in 2023, too, "despite the fact this is a difficult year, with many turbulent developments in the past two days alone."
"It seems to me that, besides all political developments, more things happened in the financial sector and the global economy in the past two days than in the past two or ten years," Vucic said.
"I am confident that this year, too, we will be the champions in attracting foreign investments and cross the 4 bln mark again, and I believe logistics and industrial and logistics and commercial hubs such as these will have special significance," Vucic said.
He noted that VGP's commitment to develop green technologies was especially important for Serbia as it would contribute to a sustainable and resilient economy.
