BELGRADE - Serbia is seeing steady growth of external goods and services trade, which reached 83 bln euros in 2022, Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Tomislav Momirovic said on Monday, adding that Serbian businesses were able to export duty-free to the CEFTA, EFTA, Russian, Eurasian Union and Turkish markets thanks to FTAs.
Addressing a regional business conference hosted by the Slovenian Business Club and Dr Gilbert Group, Momirovic said the Serbian government and his ministry were working on facilitating access to foreign markets to Serbian producers and on increasing the number of countries with which Serbia has FTAs.
"Right now, intensive talks are underway on FTAs with China, Egypt, the UAE and South Korea. Those markets hold high potential in terms of demand and sales, and it is not potential for just Serbia, but for all economies in the region," he said.
Momirovic noted the significance of the Open Balkan initiative for the region, and added that it was aimed at establishing a regional common market based on the principles of the EU single market.
