BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic signed on Thursday a MoU between the Serbian government and the Chinese company Hunan Rich Photovoltaic Science and Technology on a project to build a solar panel factory in Paracin, central Serbia, and a 200 MW solar power plant.

Under the MoU, the two sides will establish cooperation in the renewables sector.

Djedovic Handanovic also signed a framework agreement between the government and China Energy International Group on a project to build an oil and oil derivative processing facility in Smederevo, central Serbia.

The plant, which will process up to 100,000 barrels of oil and oil derivatives a day, is an investment worth 2.4 bln euros.

The minister said she was very pleased to be able to sign the important agreements following a historic visit to Serbia by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

She said the agreements would boost Serbian-Chinese cooperation in the energy sector.
