BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic received Japanese FM Yoko Kamikawa in Belgrade on Thursday.
Vucevic said bilateral economic cooperation was gaining intensity and that he was especially glad Japanese investors had recognised the advantages of doing business in Serbia, which he said was "today the regional leader in innovative technologies and the field of artificial intelligence."
Urging Japanese companies to come to the Serbian market, he noted Serbia was a country with an excellent business climate, especially for investments in the IT sector.
He said he saw great potential for cooperation with Japan in the environmental protection sector because the country was able to share its know-how and experiences in the field.
He said he was very pleased both Serbia and Japan were interested in cooperation in building and funding a Bistrica reversible hydropower plant and in other energy projects, as well as in environmental protection projects.
He said the specialised EXPO 2027 in Belgrade was another opportunity to bolster cooperation with Japan, Osaka being the host of EXPO 2025.
Vucevic noted that Serbia's goal was to preserve peace and stability in the region and voiced concern over the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, underscoring that Pristina needed to be put under pressure to get dialogue to resume and stop the terror against Serbs in the province.
Kamikawa said Serbia and Japan marked 142 years of diplomatic relations and noted that Serbia was an important partner to Japan in this part of the world.
We are embarking on a period of even more intensive development of bilateral economic cooperation, Kamikawa said, noting that 34 Japanese companies were operating in Serbia successfully.
She pointed out that Japan was striving to cherish good relations and support the stability and prosperity of Serbia.
