BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic met with Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok in Belgrade on Monday to discuss advancement of friendly bilateral relations between the two countries and potentials for further strengthening of the cooperation.
Vucevic said overall Serbia-Hungary relations had risen to an all-time high in the past decade as a result of good and friendly cooperation and thanks to mutual understanding, trust and commitment to strengthening the partnership and friendship.
He added that Serbian-Hungary relations could set an example for everyone in the world.
He noted that economic cooperation was developing and that the volumes of bilateral goods trade had risen to record highs in recent years, making Hungary Serbia's fourth-largest trade partner, and that the two countries had many joint projects.
He said the Balkans, central Europe and the entire continent were benefitting from the strategic partnership between the two countries as Serbian-Hungarian unity was contributing to security, stability, understanding and cooperation in Europe.
He added that the completion of a Belgrade-Budapest high-speed rail line would be a big boost to overall cooperation and that, like other infrastructure, transport or energy projects, the route was extremely important.
Vucevic thanked Hungary for its strong and continued support for Serbia and for its perseverance when it comes to the necessity of EU enlargement.
Sulyok confirmed that political and economic relations between the two countries were at an all-time high and noted that he was confident they would be advanced further in areas of mutual interest to the citizens.
He added that Belgrade could count on Hungary's firm support in the international arena when it comes to vital Serbian interests.
