BELGRADE - Political dialogue between Serbia and Egypt needs to be maintained at the highest level and the exceptional personal relationship between Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi provides a framework for excellent economic, political and any other cooperation between the two countries, Serbian FM Marko Djuric said at a meeting with Egyptian Senate President Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq on Friday.
Djuric said Serbia and Egypt nurtured a traditional friendship and a fraternal relationship between the two nations and noted that today's generations had an obligation to preserve those relations and advance them further, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
He said a strategic partnership and a FTA between Serbia and Egypt were an incentive to further strengthening of economic cooperation as well as cooperation in tourism and culture.
Djuric said Serbia highly appreciated Egypt's support for its bid to host the specialised EXPO 2027, which he noted would be an opportunity to promote not only Serbia in the world but also the whole world in one place - Belgrade.
Speaking about Serbia's foreign policy, Djuric said Serbia had succeeded in preserving a unique and independent foreign policy position in difficult times as a result of Vucic's vision and a solid foundation of the same stance among the Serbs.
Djuric said Serbia pursued a balanced and principled policy based on respect of international law and the UN Charter.
Djuric also expressed the hope he would be able to host his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty in Belgrade soon.
