BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met on Monday with Lucia Puttrich, minister of federal and European affairs of the German state of Hesse.
Brnabic noted that the level of Serbia's relations with Hesse was high and that she especially appreciated the substantial trade volume between the two sides.
She said that, when it comes to Germany, Hesse was one of Serbia's leading economic partners, the Serbian government said in a statement.
She said a joint statement of intent signed by the Vojvodina provincial government and the Hesse government in 2019 was a major impetus to cooperation.
As a future EU member state, Serbia recognises the great significance of cooperation with European regions, Brnabic added.
At the same time, she underscored the significance of Germany as an extremely important economic and business partner of Serbia, and noted that, in addition to continued investment cooperation, especially in the high-tech sector, there were great opportunities to deepen cooperation in other fields, too - the pharmaceuticals, energy and automotive sectors, as well as in cooperation in science and education.
Puttrich said Hesse was committed to continue to deepen relations with Serbia and the Vojvodina province and that it supported Serbia on the path to EU membership.
The meeting was also attended by German Ambassador to Belgrade Anke Konrad, CDU, LDP and AFD representatives in the Hesse parliament, as well as representatives of the state's Ministry for the Environment and the Hessen Trade and Investment company.
