BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic received Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo in Belgrade on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and economic cooperation.

She noted that Serbia was proud of the decades-long history of excellent relations with Guinea-Bissau and that ties in all areas needed to be advanced, given their untapped potential.

Brnabic said Serbia was ready to make additional efforts to intensify and increase bilateral trade, as well as to develop other forms of cooperation, with special emphasis on education, agriculture, tourism, the IT sector and sports, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Embalo said the two countries had a responsibility to cherish their friendship and the traditional relations connecting them through history, and added that he was confident future generations, too, would continue to cherish that friendship.

Embalo welcomed the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on abolishing visas for holders of official/diplomatic and special passports and a MoU on establishing a mechanism of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Serbia and Guinea-Bissau.
