BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Friday he would not be travelling to Reykjavik for a Council of Europe (CoE) conference and that Serbia would abstain in a vote on a resolution on protection of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.
"We will abstain and they will not be able to say the decision is unanimous. And they will criticise me, but it does not matter. We support the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia but we are not prepared to give up on our territorial integrity," Vucic said.
He said Serbia had submitted an amendment to the resolution, requesting the inclusion of a reference to respect of the territorial integrity of all CoE member states, but that the motion had been rejected, primarily at the insistence of Germany.
"They respect territorial integrity and the UN Charter only when it suits them to do so," Vucic said.
