Brnabic: Belgrade has warned of brutality against Kosovo-Metohija Serbs

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with UNMIK head Caroline Ziadeh on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.

Brnabic especially noted that the September 24 tragic events in the north of Kosovo-Metohija had been utilised by the Pristina interim self-government authorities and some media outlets in Pristina in a tendentious manner and misused to spread disinformation and half-truths, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Brnabic noted that Belgrade had been warning constantly and persistently of the brutality, violence and discrimination against Serbs and other non-Albanians in the territory of Kosovo-Metohija that had led to an escalation and tragic events.

Brnabic also especially stressed that a Community of Serb Municipalities had still not been formed even though Pristina had committed to that more than ten years ago.

Ziadeh noted that Serbia's commitment to peace, stability and dialogue as the most important instrument for reaching a sustainable solution in Kosovo-Metohija was the most significant.

She stressed that UNMIK remained consistent about performing its mandate in line with UNSC resolution 1244, the statement also said.
