NEW YORK - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in New York on Friday to discuss Thursday's special UN Security Council session on Kosovo-Metohija, held at Serbia's request.

"We analysed all that happened last night. I think the Security Council session was important for us to see what an uneasy position we are in, not because of Pristina's behaviour, but because of the extent to which our opinion differs from that of a significant part of the world and, of course, to see how many real friends we have that stand with our country," Vucic told Pink TV.

He noted that it was important that 12 or 13 of the 15 UNSC member states had unequivocally expressed their disagreement with Pristina's moves, especially regarding a ban on the Serbian dinar.

"Those are important things for us, those are good messages. I think we fought honourably and represented our country honestly, and that is what we were able to do," Vucic added.

He said his meeting with Guterres had addressed the geopolitical situation and the situation in the region.

"It seems to me that we have reached a high level of agreement on many issues and I learned many things about some global trends, he (Guterres) is an experienced man... ...so I think it was very useful," Vucic said.
