BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Monday a wider political front - a broader coalition around the ruling Serbian Progressive Party - was needed for the upcoming local elections in Belgrade as it was now being decided whether Serbia would remain a sovereign and independent state.

"It is now being decided whether you want Serbia to be independent, sovereign and free, or you do not want it to be independent, sovereign and free but that foreigners should be the ones deciding about it," Brnabic said in an appearance on Happy TV.

She said the opposition Serbia Against Violence coalition wanted a complete annulment of Serbia's sovereignty and was seeking, in various ways, open and explicit support from foreigners who would interfere in electoral processes in Serbia.

They want "a complete annulment of Serbia's sovereignty by an international probe (into alleged electoral fraud). They want our local laws to be suspended. They want our institutions, including even the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, to be suspended. Once a foreigner suspends one law, for example, the Law on Protection of Personal Information, which has been passed by the parliament, the parliament is suspended, too. There is no state there anymore," Brnabic said.

Speaking about electoral fraud, Serbia Against Violence representatives have practically called for sanctions against Serbia because the people did not elect them, and even the head of the election observation mission refuted their claims after the release of the ODIHR report, Brnabic said.
