BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Monday a Serbia-Republika Srpska Easter Assembly would be held in Belgrade and other parts of Serbia on May 5-6.
"After hours of discussions Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and I had today in the presence of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, a joint conclusion was made that a grand Easter Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Republika Srpska be held in Belgrade and other parts of Serbia on May 5-6. At the Assembly, important decisions will be made about the survival of Serbs in their ancestral homes, their economic progress and preservation of the Serbian language, the Cyrillic script and common cultural heritage," Vucic noted in a statement released by the presidential press office.
He added that the new Serbian government and the Republika Srpska government would prepare a declaration and potential other general legal acts to be tabled to the parliaments of Serbia and Republika Srpska.
"We informed Serbian Patriarch Porfirije of the gravity of the political situation all Serbs are in and we asked His Holiness for the blessing and support of the Serbian Orthodox Church," Vucic said.
