BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic met with the head of the ODIHR election observation mission, Lamberto Zannier, on Friday to discuss dialogue between political groups in the Serbian parliament, which she noted had resulted in a broader social consensus on implementation of ODIHR recommendations for improvement of electoral conditions.

Brnabic said she was glad the parliamentary dialogue had been established and added that, at its very outset, all parties had reached consent and a broader social consent on meeting all ODIHR recommendations from the final report on the monitored December 2023 elections in Serbia.

She informed Zannier of the opposition demands accepted in the dialogue.

She noted that other, additional agreements and a broader social consensus had also been reached on matters important for holding the upcoming local elections and added that she remained absolutely committed to implementing the ODIHR recommendations with a view to advancing the electoral process in the future and further cherishing political pluralism, flexibility and dialogue.

Zannier welcomed Brnabic's personal engagement towards everything that had been done to advance the electoral process and noted that continuing this in the future was very important for maintaining continuity and reducing polarisation and tensions in political dialogue.
