BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday spoke on the phone with EU foreign policy and security chief Josep Borrel about a renewal of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the presidential press office has confirmed.

Borrell announced he would soon visit Belgrade and Pristina to assess in person the possibilities for a resumption of the dialogue once a new Pristina government is formed, an official statement said.

"Vucic said that Serbia, in line with its regional policy of peace and stability, is prepared to continue the dialogue in case Pristina abolishes the unjustified and irresponsible unilateral measure of imposing taxes on goods from central Serbia, which jeopardises the Serbian economy as well as the everyday life of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija," the statement said.

Borrell welcomed Serbia's commitment to preserving regional stability.

The two parties also discussed the next steps on Serbia's European path.
