BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic on Wednesday chaired a session of a council coordinating activities and measures aimed at GDP growth, which said Serbia's 2023 economic growth should reach 2.5 pct.
Brnabic said it was important to continue a trend of economic growth in Q3 and Q4.
Industry and the construction sector are key areas for achieving economic growth and Q2 growth was 1.7 pct, which is in line with expectations, a statement released by the government of Serbia quoted Brnabic as saying.
The council noted progress in the construction sector and in expediting the procedure of issuing construction permits, which it said was important for capital projects and private investments.
Speaking about the most significant projects, Brnabic noted that all projects were important and that all ministries, local self-government authorities and public enterprises must work with commitment to meet project completion deadlines to generate higher economic growth.
The council especially noted that new projects, such as the start of works on infrastructure for EXPO 2027, would further boost economic growth until the end of the year.
Brnabic noted that the tourism sector was seeing growth that was primarily reflected in a higher number of overnight stays generated by foreign tourists, the government statement said.
