BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade Tomislav Momirovic said on Monday a FTA recently signed with China was one of the most important agreements in decades and would open to Serbian producers and traders the door to the world's largest market.
"That will be a unique thing in all of Europe. Our producers, small producers and traders will have an opportunity in that market, which is growing strongly," Momirovic said in a statement to Pink TV.
Serbia needs to focus on a specific niche of products to be exported to China, he said.
"Tariffs on a large number of industrial products will be lower by 10 to 45 pct, even by 60 pct in some cases," Momirovic said, urging Serbian businesses to invest and focus on fairs in China.
"We have unbelievable interest from Chinese investors, European investors - everyone sees a chance... This is an incredible opportunity, I would like to ask people to get involved because this can generate much higher wages and much higher pensions," he said.
Momirovic also said Chinese companies had been the top investors in Serbia in the past year.
