Brnabic: Serbia absolutely, firmly committed to stability, progress in region

BELGRADE - Besides EU integration, regional connectivity and cooperation are among the top priorities of Serbia's foreign policy, Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said at a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Subcommittee on the Western Balkans, held in Belgrade on Thursday.

"Serbia is absolutely and firmly committed to stability and progress in our region - the Western Balkan region. Without a safe, stable, infrastructurally well-connected and economically prosperous region in which young people want to stay, to live and work here and build careers and start families here, there is no economically strong and successful Serbia either," Brnabic said.

"We are a comparatively small region and no individual country can be strong, stable or successful unless the entire region is stable and economically prosperous," she said.

"That is why, besides European integration, which is the top priority of our foreign policy, regional connectivity and cooperation are among Serbia's key priorities," she noted.

Everyone in the region should engage in dialogue in which they will not retreat in the face of difficult issues, but seek the right solutions, Brnabic said.

"Serbia is ready to assume its role in strengthening economic partnerships promoting growth and sustainability," she also said.
