BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic said on Wednesday the standard of living in Serbia was incomparably better than it had been in the past but that the country must continue to work and develop after achieving excellent economic results in 2024.
Vucevic noted that the November 1 railway station tragedy in Novi Sad had left a burden on the nation and caused pain.
"It is something that, unfortunately, marked the year of 2024, but it will also leave a mark over a longer period of time, and for much longer for the families that lost their loved ones," Vucevic said in an appearance on Happy TV.
Good things, too, happened in Serbia, Vucevic said, adding that the country had obtained investment-grade credit rating and that it had officially received the EXPO flag, as well that wages and pensions had been raised.
"We raised the minimum wage by 13.7 pct and, for the first time ever, we have a minimum wage that covers the basic consumer basket," he said.
We should not forget that we have not imposed sanctions on Russia and that we also have an excellent relationship with China while continuing on our European path, he said.
"We are keeping all that together amid very complex geopolitical circumstances, we are maintaining balance while developing Serbia all the time, facing various pressures at the same time, of course. As you can see, attempts of a colour revolution are underway in Serbia," Vucevic said.
He said the opposition wanted a change of government by violent means and to get a government without elections, and added that, in his opinion, it was a classic attempt of a political revolution.
"At the same time, Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija are under tremendous pressure, so I expect nothing good in the coming period and, of course, there is an attempt of destabilising Republika Srpska," Vucevic said.
