BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with Caroline Ziadeh, head of UNMIK - the UN mission in Kosovo-Metohija - to discuss the situation in Serbia's southern autonomous province and the upcoming regular UN Security Council session on the work of UNMIK, slated for April.
Djuric said the six-month reporting period had been marked by continued unilateral actions by Pristina against Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija as well as by numerous incidents, and expressed the expectation the new report on UNMIK would address that in detail.
It is important that UNSC sessions on reports on UNMIK remain open to the public as there is a need to familiarise a wider international audience with the challenges on the ground, a statement released by the Serbian MFA quoted Djuric as saying.
Djuric said Belgrade remained clearly committed to building peace and stability in Kosovo-Metohija and noted that success of that process would greatly depend on who would be representing Pristina in the coming period.
He also informed Ziadeh of Serbia's positions on a trilateral defence cooperation agreement signed by Croatia, Albania and Pristina, which he warned was a cause for legitimate concern and did not contribute to trust and stability in the region.
